Confidence Through Performing at Stage Presence.

“As a parent, I appreciate Jaymee's investment in their progress. She works them through stressful auditions and is cheering for them from the audition to their performances.  Jaymee doesn't just teach my girls how to sing - she is keenly aware of where a kid is in their development and I see the difference working with her has on my kid’s confidence in their daily lives.”

2016 - 2021

Our Story:

Stage Presence started in 2016 in a tiny one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco by our founder Jaymee Senigaglia. Through the years we have become the premier Bay Area Studio for performing arts and music training. Stage Presence offers weekly lessons with aim to provide a well rounded education your child can take with them whether they are auditioning, performing, or just having fun. We believe that it is most effective to cross train in voice, music, and acting equally in order to have a well rounded education in the arts. We work on a strict three month audition and performance schedule that aligns with local Children’s Theaters. Our students soar through their auditions and call backs as a supportive team with the help of our one of a kind group audition and callback prep. During the pandemic, we are proud to say that we have been able to support both our staff and students emotionally and artistically. We are now pleased to say that we will be offering permanent virtual lessons as well as in person lessons that are aligned with CDC guidelines in our studio locations. We are committed to continuing to provide a safe and supportive environment. Stage Presence is a sanctuary space for staff and students alike. In order to become a Stage Presence Coach, our staff members must be able to provide the highest caliber of lessons and be active professionals within the industry. At Stage Presence we strive to give our student’s performance opportunities outside of their local theaters. We have performed at several Relay For Life Events, have an annual Christmas In The Park Show, and produced 3 virtual shows in 2020. We also launched our first ever Camp Stage Presence summer of 2021 and look forward to expanding it to an overnight camp in 2022.

Our Method:

Being a student at Stage Presence is not about exclusively having lead roles in shows. It may be the goal of many, but for our students, we focus heavily on shining your talents onto the stage, focusing on being the best version of you, and creating a supportive community who work together rather than competing against each other. It is a complete upside down take on what our team has experienced as working professionals in the industry and we are committed to turning the industry on its head. We noticed that we tend to attract children who have lacking self confidence, anxiety, diagnoses that make it tough to function, have been bullied, put too much pressure on themselves, or otherwise just need support. Experiencing these similar traits repeatedly, we began to focus on giving kids pieces to work on that were performance level appropriate and within their reach rather than impossibly challenging selections. As we worked toward smaller, attainable goals, we started to notice that our students would try new and more challenging things, jump into a karaoke track rather than hide behind the artist sung track, sing louder, and most importantly, trust our team to guide them. We have seen the same exact anxieties in children cast in any and all roles in theater as well as in dance and instrument/songwriting work so we molded our curriculum to the needs of the kids and coined our method: Confidence Through Singing.

In 2021, one of our wonderful families requested that we expand to instruments as many of our kids felt completely devastated without any theaters to perform in so we expanded our team to include an absolutely wonderful group of instrument teachers. Children are more engaged in their music when they can relate to it, so we listen and learn what actually interests them and then adjust and personalize our curriculum to each child. Recently with kids spending more time on electronics, we noticed that their bodies had lost the natural connection to movement they had pre-pandemic, so our incredible Resident Choreographer, Emily designed a one of a kind class that pairs with our voice lessons. When you can connect your body to your music, it can be life changing not only in auditions and performances, but also in real life social circumstances. Our students open up to us about tough social interactions so we are always evolving and growing as a team to help support them in every way we can on and off the stage. Our greatest accomplishment aside from an incredible education in performing arts, is having a student feel confident as they move through life and navigate tough situations. All things considered, this is how we have evolved from Confidence Through Singing, to Confidence Through Performing and as a team are ready to take on any challenge that comes our way.
